Today on his birthday, we share an interesting fact: Michelangelo's most famous statue, “David”, was made from a massive block of marble that other artists had deemed unworkable and had abandoned. Detoriated by the elements, it had sat outside the Florence Cathedral for 40 years before Michaelangelo began his sculpture.
