Napoleon Hill was an American self-help author who is most well-known for his book "Think and Grow Rich."

Random Facts.

  • Early Life: Born in a one-room cabin near the Appalachian town of Pound in Southwest Virginia.

  • Education: Hill began his writing career at age 13 as a "mountain reporter" for small-town newspapers.

  • Meeting with Andrew Carnegie: The turning point in his career came in 1908 when he had a chance to interview the industrialist and philanthropist Andrew Carnegie. Carnegie was one of the most powerful men in the world and Hill was assigned to write a short profile about him. That short assignment turned into a lengthy three-day interview. Carnegie was so impressed with the young reporter that he gave Hill a letter of introduction and sent him out to interview over 500 successful men and women, many of them millionaires, in order to discover and publish a formula for success.

  • Famous Works: His most famous work, "Think and Grow Rich" (1937), is among the 10 best-selling self-help books of all time.
